Claude Motion questions

What is Claude Motion?
A beta feature in Claude, launched October 8, 2026, that turns your content into short animations — an all-hands explainer, an animated board-deck chart, an onboarding walkthrough — and exports them as MP4. Claude builds each one as code rather than generating video.
Can I use Claude Motion on Pro or Max?
No. The pricing page lists it as not included on Free, Pro or Max. It is available on Team, where it is on by default, and Enterprise, where an owner has to enable it.
Does Claude Motion generate video like Sora or Veo?
No. Anthropic does not use a video generation model for it. It animates the text, charts, shapes and images you provide, so it cannot create filmed footage or realistic people.
How do I start Claude Motion?
Ask for an animation in chat, choose Output then Motion in the message box (or type /motion), or pick a Motion template from the Artifacts tab.
What format does Claude Motion export?
MP4. You can also open the animation in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway to keep editing.
How much does Claude Motion cost?
There is no separate fee. It counts toward your plan's usage. The cheapest plan that includes it is Team, with a two-seat minimum at $25 per seat per month — about $50.
Is this site official?
No. This is an independent guide and is not affiliated with Anthropic. Official documentation lives in the Claude Help Center.
What should my first prompt include?
Anthropic's own advice: say who will watch it, where it will play, and roughly how long it should be, then attach the report, data or images you want it built from.
How do I edit an animation?
Two ways. Ask in chat — "slow down the second scene" or "change the Q3 number to 18%" — or adjust it yourself in the editor.
Who can see my animations?
Animations start private to you. Open one and click Share to share it, using the same sharing controls as other artifacts.
Is there a per-animation charge?
No. Claude Motion draws on your plan's normal usage. Anthropic says longer or more complex animations use more of the limit than an ordinary message.
What is the cheapest way to get it?
A Team plan. Standard seats are $25 per month or $20 billed annually, with a two-seat minimum, so roughly $40–$50 a month.
Is upgrading to Team worth it just for Motion?
Reviewers so far say no unless your workspace already has Team. Pro and Max users can get similar results through Artifacts, Claude Code, Remotion or HyperFrames.
What is the closest free alternative?
Asking Claude for an animated explainer as an artifact on Pro or Max. You get a self-playing page that looks very similar; you just have to screen-record it because there is no MP4 export.
Which open-source tool should I pick?
HyperFrames if you want deterministic HTML-to-MP4 rendering built for agents; Remotion if you need to batch-render many variants. Both work through Claude Code and both handle audio.
Do I need to know how to code?
Not much. Claude writes the code. You do need to install Node.js and FFmpeg once and be comfortable running a command in a terminal.
How long can a Claude Motion video be?
Anthropic has not published a maximum. Launch coverage describes short clips in beta, and longer animations use more of your usage limit.
Does Claude Motion add voiceover or music?
The official help article does not mention audio at all. Treat it as undocumented until Anthropic says otherwise.
What resolution does it export?
Not published. The help article names MP4 as the format but gives no resolution, aspect ratio or frame-rate details.
Can it use my brand fonts and colours?
You can ask for them and attach assets. Brand fonts and dense labels are among the things early testers recommend checking before relying on it for a deadline.

Claude Motion in one paragraph

Claude Motion launched in beta on October 8, 2026. It turns your own material into short animations by writing code rather than generating video, which means it cannot film anything but can change any word or number without disturbing the rest. Claude Motion exports MP4 and hands off to seven editing tools. It is on Team and Enterprise only, so most individual subscribers cannot use Claude Motion yet — but Pro, Max and Claude Code users can reach similar results through artifacts, Remotion or HyperFrames.

The open questions about Claude Motion are the practical ones: how long clips can run, what resolution comes out, whether audio is supported, and whether Claude Motion will ever reach Pro. None is answered in the Claude Motion documentation yet. This Claude Motion FAQ will be updated when they are.

Claude Motion questions nobody can answer yet

Will Claude Motion come to Pro or Max? Anthropic has not said. Other Claude features have widened their plan coverage after beta, but there is no published Claude Motion roadmap.

What is the maximum Claude Motion clip length? Not published. Coverage describes short clips in beta, and Anthropic says longer animations use more usage, but there is no stated ceiling.

Does Claude Motion support audio? The official help article does not mention it. Until it does, plan to add voice and music in an editor after export.

What resolution and frame rate does Claude Motion export? Not documented. Export a test clip and check it at the size it will be shown before committing to a format.

When will Claude Motion leave beta? No date has been given. The same announcement took Docs, Slides and Design out of beta, which suggests a path, but Claude Motion has no timeline yet.
