Claude Motion Limits
Some limits are by design, some are beta, and some are simply unpublished. Sorting them out before you plan a project around it.
Every known Claude Motion limit
Each Claude Motion limit is tagged by where it comes from. "Stated" means Anthropic says it. "By design" follows from how Claude Motion works. "Not published" means nobody outside Anthropic knows yet — treat any specific number you see elsewhere with suspicion.
Free, Pro and Max are listed as No on the pricing page.
No video generation model is used; it can only animate the material you supply.
Longer or more complex animations use more of your limit than a typical message.
The only download format named in the help article.
Coverage describes short clips in beta. Anthropic has not given a number.
None of these appear in the official documentation.
The help article does not mention audio. Code-built video in general struggles with natural voice and produced music.
Brand fonts, dense labels and repeated number edits are worth testing before a deadline.
The limit that is really a feature
Claude Motion cannot create realistic footage or people. That is not a Claude Motion beta gap waiting to close — it is the design. Claude Motion uses no video generation model; it writes code that animates what you give it.
The upside of the Claude Motion approach is control. A generated video is a sealed object: change one number and you regenerate the whole clip and hope. A Claude Motion animation is a program: change one number and only that number moves. For data-driven explainers that will be revised five times before a meeting, that difference matters more than photorealism.
It also removes a category of risk. Claude Motion cannot fabricate a person saying something they did not say, because it cannot draw a person at all.
What is still unpublished
Maximum clip length, resolution, aspect-ratio options, frame rate and audio support are all absent from the official Claude Motion documentation as of October 10, 2026. Coverage describes the feature as producing short clips in beta, and Anthropic says longer or more complex animations consume more usage, but neither gives a ceiling.
Audio deserves a specific note. Code-built video from Claude generally struggles with natural-sounding voice and produced music, and the Claude Motion help article does not mention sound at all. If your clip needs narration, plan to add it in one of the hand-off editors rather than expecting it from Claude Motion.
At least one widely shared launch summary also stated that Claude Motion was available on all plans and launched on October 9. Both are wrong: Anthropic's documentation says Team and Enterprise, and the launch was October 8.
Test before a deadline
Early reviewers suggest checking these before relying on Claude Motion for anything important:
- ☐ Brand fonts render correctly
- ☐ Dense labels stay readable
- ☐ Aspect ratio suits where it will play
- ☐ Export quality holds at full screen
- ☐ Repeated number edits stay consistent
- ☐ Colour contrast is accessible
- ☐ Pacing is comfortable, not frantic
- ☐ Captions are legible on a phone

Planning a Claude Motion project around the limits
Keep Claude Motion clips short until the length ceiling is published. Thirty seconds is Anthropic's own example and a safe target. Longer pieces are better split into scenes made separately and assembled in a hand-off editor, which also makes revisions cheaper.
Plan audio outside Claude Motion. Write the script with Claude, record or generate the voice elsewhere, and combine them in Descript, Adobe or a similar tool. If the clip will autoplay muted — common on pricing pages and in Slack — design it to work with no sound from the start.
Confirm export dimensions before promising a format. Because resolution and aspect ratio are not documented for Claude Motion, export a test clip at the start of a project and check it at the size it will actually be shown. A square social video and a 16:9 meeting-room video need different layouts, and it is better to discover any constraint early.
Budget usage as well as time. Claude Motion animations consume more of a session than ordinary messages, so a day with several long Claude Motion pieces can exhaust a Standard seat. Spread heavy Claude Motion work across the team or give the main producer a Premium seat.
